Why It’s Important To Incorporate Hands-On Learning In Your L&D Program

It’s a busy time for sports teams and their coaches, from preseason training to the cricket and soccer World Cups. With many athletes preparing to be at the top of their game, what lessons can be taken from their intense training regimes?

Although your employees are probably not going to be tasked with doing the perfect long pass or taking a penalty kick, there are some parallels with pro athletes. Your team members have to perform at their best, sometimes under pressure, and they have to succeed in their roles. And just like professional athletes, the team doesn’t work if each individual cannot do their specific role well.Intelligence And Training

Training, naturally, is the main influence on an athlete’s success, and the same applies to your workforce. The best training is a combination of mind and body. As basketball coach Pete Carril once explained, “The two ingredients for success in basketball are playing hard and playing intelligently.”

To achieve both, you need the right knowledge reinforced with practical, hands-on training. In preseason training camps, you have a mix of theoretical learning and real-world application. For example, the Carolina Panthers kick off their training with a “Pizza and Protections” night, where they study different offensive line blocks for regular and unusual fronts. Meanwhile, in the Miami Dolphins camp, coach Mike McDaniel has tasked quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with practical exercises to help him prepare for physical contact, including training on falling well and jujitsu to build a stronger body.

Why is storytelling important to children?

The stories we hear as children shape our view of the world.

Most small children live their lives in quite a limited environment. Reading stories to children can show them far-flung places, extraordinary people and eye-opening situations to expand and enrich their world.

It can also be a great way of helping them deal with real life situations that they need help to deal with. Researchers have found that the brain activity that occurs when we read fiction is very similar to experiencing that situation in real life, so reading about a situation helps children work out how to solve it in reality.

Why Good Credit History Is Important

‘Building a credit history is a gradual process that requires at least 6-12 months of consistent credit activity.’

The Reserve Bank of India said recently in its monthly bulletin that lenders find it difficult to extend credit in the absence of borrowers having a credit history.

A good credit history has emerged as a significant factor for lenders while making lending decisions.

“Your credit history is one of the most important factors banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) consider while processing your application for a loan or a credit card,” explains says Radhika Binani, chief product officer, Paisabazaar.

“A strong credit history that displays responsible behaviour with credit can help you get offers for loans at low interest rates. With a healthy credit history and a high credit score, you can also borrow a higher amount, though factors like existing debt and current income also play an important role here,” Binani adds.

Eligible for pre-approved offers

Many banks offer ‘on tap’ credit facilities or pre-approved loan offers to their clients. They rely on their experience with clients and the client’s credit history.

“If you have a high credit score, you may be eligible for pre-approved offers for loans that would require zero or minimum documentation. Disbursal is also quicker,” says Binani.
